Get to Know Spicer Capital
What is Spicer Capital?
Welcome, Fellow Concerned Investor,
My name is Stephen Spicer. I’m the founder of Spicer Capital. I’m a Certified Financial Planner®, and I have a couple other designations...
But perhaps what’s most important for you to know is that I’m obsessed with helping you challenge the traditional financial paradigms—to discover better ways to protect and grow your life savings.
And why should we trust you?
WHAT MAKES YOU DIFFERENT THAN EVERY OTHER FINANCIAL “EXPERT?”
I believe you should challenge everything and everyone, including me. Blind trust is dangerous and can lead to panic decisions—not the kind you want to make with your life savings at stake.
My goal is to guide you to your own educated decisions. It may take a little longer and require a little extra mental energy, but your understanding and conviction will be much stronger. You will be prepared, come what may!
It wasn't until I began questioning my own financial education that I became aware of the potentially ruinous flaws in how most savers invest. My mission was clear—to help people...
STOP INVESTING LIKE THEY TELL YOU
I'm currently rewriting this entire book. I know it can be better. I know it can be a best-seller. I know it can help millions of investors worldwide.
I'd love to have you on this journey with us—your insights, your feedback, your criticism would be invaluable.

What made you want to challenge an industry?
MY INVESTMENT JOURNEY: A BRIEF HISTORY
My passion for investing started when I made my first stock trade at the age of 12 (my mother kindly took my orders). My mom let me get the Wall Street Journal to study the pricing tables. At 21, I purchased my first rental property—I remember excusing myself from my investment class to make the bid-winning call.
In 2010, I graduated from the University of Arkansas with a B.S.B.A. in Finance; I began working for Northwestern Mutual. In 2012, I qualified for Million Dollar Round Table, an exclusive association representing the top 1% of the industry. A year later, I earned my Certified Financial Planner® designation.
The following two years were a critical period of disappointing discovery (despite earning two more designations)...
I came to realize that my personal investment strategy was incongruent with what I was supposed to, or even allow to, recommend. I became increasingly uncomfortable with the prescribed advice.
I left my job on December 31st, 2015 and lived off savings as I worked desperately to build a better way—for myself, for my family, for anyone who shares my concerns.
Unafraid to challenge the traditional paradigms of a broken system, I built Spicer Capital to address my clients (and my own) investment and financial planning concerns.
But hiring an advisor can be expensive...

MY WHY: A GLIMPSE INTO MY PERSONAL LIFE
It's probably easier to just show you...
Maybe it's cliché—but anyone who knows me well will confirm—I am driven by my growing family.
I married my brilliant high school sweetheart, and we have three amazing boys. My search for a better way to invest, was initially inspired by my desire to care for them. It's probably just human-nature, but I feel compelled to protect my family (including financially), come what may!
I know there are others who feel the same. For you, I hope to be a resource.
WHERE DO I BEGIN?
You're welcome to begin with any of the resources we've created for you—everyone learns differently. Right now, I'm currently pouring my heart and soul into this renewed book effort. I'd love your help as we write this best-selling resource.
Whatever you do, I appreciate the time you took to read this! I hope I can help you in some way.
